22nd Graduate Student Meeting

The California Botanical Society's Biennial Graduate Student Meeting and Annual Banquet will be held on Saturday, 17 February 2007, at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo (homepage is http://www.calpoly.edu/). Graduate students everywhere who are initiating, conducting, or finishing research projects in any area of plant biology (e.g., ecology, evolution, conservation, floristics, morphology, development, etc.) are encouraged to attend the meeting (and banquet) and to give short oral presentations on their research plans or findings. The venue provides an ideal opportunity for students to gain valuable experience giving presentations in the standard format of scientific meetings, to meet students involved in botanical research from other institutions, and to learn more about botany in general. Student peers will judge presentations and awards in each category will be presented at the evening banquet. Abstracts of all presentations will be published on-line at the California Botanical Society web-site (www.calbotsoc.org). The graduate student meeting and annual banquet are open to all CBS members and non-members alike; anyone interested in the meeting and/or banquet is encouraged to attend.

Members and non-members wishing to attend or participate in the biennial grad student meeting should fill out and send the registration form ( Adobe Acrobat, MS Word), with registration fee of $25 (includes cost of lunch and snacks), to our graduate student representative: Abby Moore, University and Jepson Herbaria, 1001 Valley Life Sciences Building #2465, Berkeley, CA 94720-2465. Any questions about the graduate student meeting or annual banquet can be directed to Nicole Molinari, molinari@lifesci.ucsb.edu.

The deadline for abstracts and pre-registration is 15 December 2006. We encourage all to pre-register so that we can provide you with lunch. Registration will be $15 on the day of the meeting, but you must provide your own lunch.

Please circulate this message freely to anyone who may be interested in attending or participating.
